Mom's whole wheat waffles

Okay, here's a new recipe for you. First off, this is a real "hearty" one. If you don't like "wheaty" and really hearty food...you will not like this. : ) But I do, and my kids will eat them and the waffles really fill them up so I thought I'd share. It also helps me use my food storage wheat. I ground wheat this morning ( a first for me ) and it was really easy. The flour smells so fresh and nice.

Wisk together:
1 egg
1-3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup canola oil

Add:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tbs baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

Mix thoroughly.

It made about four big belgian waffles.

Some fresh berries and sugar on top would be divine!

Thanks Annie. I make whole wheat pancakes all the time cause the kids will eat them and its healthy. The recipe actually looks very similar. My mom always mixed up a huge batch of the dry stuff and stores it so you can make them even faster. Add some ground flaxseed to eat and it adds good fat for your kiddos brains!

Thank you for sharing! I love wheat anything. My parents gave us a wheat grinder for Christmas and I have yet to use it... but I'm going to try this recipe out very soon!
