On his way home from camping with his dad they stopped with some friends at a dirt bike track. Our friends let Ollie try out their kids bike. He loved it! Now he's saving all his pennies to buy one of his own!

run through the vines 2011

Last year Dave and Ollie did this same run and it looked like a lot of fun. This year I got to do the 10K, Dave ran the 5K and Hazel and Ollie ran the kids 2K. The kids were very excited about racing in their "fast shoes". Before the race Ollie said: "Dad, I don't want you to run with me, because I think you and Hazel will slow me down!"   It was my first race since having Marin - I was by no means fast, but I did it! It was a hilly course but beautiful, cool weather and good company made it all worth it! 

Santa Barbara

This weekend we took a trip to Santa Barbara. It was our first visit and the area was even more beautiful that I had expected. Dave ran a half marathon on Saturday (I forgot to take my camera to the race!). He ran a great race -- I think this is his last one for the year. We also got to hang out with Dave's brother Chris and his family. (His wife Lizzy ran the race as well.) We had a great time. We rented an RV-- that was a fun adventure. And thanks to uncle Doug for helping out with everything. We also stumbled onto these beautiful tide pools (see photos) at really low tide. There were many sea creatures to be found. It was very cool. And as always, the beach (or anywhere out in nature really) is the best playground for kids.

A few shots of Dave's race yesterday. Go Dave! He's done a lot of races this year, I'm really proud of him. Hopefully I'll be running next to him soon!! My good friends Amy and Shantil did this triathlon as well. They all looked fast and strong! Nice work!

st george 2010

He did it!! Dave ran the St George Marathon last weekend. It was his first marathon. He did great! The heat was a record-breaking high but it was a great day other than that. Here's hoping that we get in next year! Anyone else care to join us?

This past weekend Dave raced in a triathlon at Camp Pendleton. It was a fun morning. He did a great job and the kids loved cheering him on. GO DAVE! Maybe next year I'll join him?

end of summer fun

It's hard to believe school starts in just two short days! This summer break has flown by. This morning Ollie got up bright and early to sell some avocados to earn money for a game he has been really wanting to buy. Thanks, Trish and Alma for the avocados. He was a great little salesman!

soccer: end of the season

5.22.10 - Last soccer game of the season. I wasn't sure if Ollie was going to be into the soccer thing, but I heard him say: "I just LOVE soccer!" about twenty times yesterday. Go Blue Lightning!

run through the vineyards

This weekend Oliver ran his first road race! A kids 2K "Run Through the Vineyards" (Dave ran the 5K). It was a beautiful day! We all had a great time. I'm planning on being "race ready" for this one next year!

Dave did another triathlon this last weekend down in San Diego in Mission Bay. It was a beautiful day and a great race. I'm in for next year. Anyone care to join me?
